Internet Marketing At Its Worst And Its Best

Welcome to my little online website to which I have intermittently posted for the past two and a half years.  It was my original intention to share what I’ve been learning along the way of building our online business – what worked and what didn’t work for us.  There must’ve been a flood of newbies at the same time we started, because that notion was picked up by lots of others whose websites I’ve read through the years.

Many had some great tips and products to share, and I’ve appreciated every one of those articles from the sites.  Many started their blog and just let it die a natural death.  That is probably how went their internet marketing business, too.  There’s a very high failure rate in this business, and it mostly results in failure because people are promised the world, quick cash-making products or techniques, and when they realize that such is not the case and that they actually have to work to achieve success online, people quit.

They may not quit because they are quitters.  Many quit because they can’t afford to hang in there long enough to see the fruits of their labors.  They were promised quick, and they were hoping for quick, but their financial resources couldn’t support them long enough to see it through.  This is a very common occurrence these days where many have lost their jobs and were let go without a long-lasting severance package to carry them for many months until they got established with another source of revenue.

All too common a story these days.  It’s tough out there, to be sure….  but it’s tough in here, too.  We are workaholics and are certainly two people who are not afraid to roll up our sleeves and do the work.  We, too, were fed the same lines that I eluded to earlier, and it de-railed us for a long time until we got ourselves on a more realistic schedule and business plan.

We were all over the map for a long time, trying this and trying that; figuring things out mostly by ourselves through trial and error.  Sound familiar in your household, too.  Sometimes, I’ll admit, we may have been two people running as hard as we could towards the east looking for the sunset!  That ain’t gonna’ happen.  Back to the drawing boards.

I’m not here to tell you that we have it all figured out yet, but I will say that we are seeing progress and that’s enough to keep us going.  We KNOW we will make it, and perhaps this is our year.  We feel good about it, and our business plan is narrowed down to a workable chunk of tasks that each of us do very well.  We have figured out our strengths and weaknesses, and knowing those, have complemented each other by doing what we each do best.

This post will remain static on this site for awhile.  One day, and hopefully much sooner than we anticipate, I will replace it by a post with a lot of hoopla where we are proudly letting you know that our online business is supporting our lifestyle and is continuing to grow skyward.  That will be a happy day for us, and it will be a happy day for you, too.  It will be another reason for you to keep going because if we could figure it out, you can, too.

So, while we’re all hanging in there and slugging it out every day, I wish all of you the strength, the optimism, the backbone of steel to carry on.  It’s not easy, and some days it’s not even the slightest bit of fun either, but for us there is no alternative.  This is it.  We must make it work for us.

Most of all, remember to laugh.  Don’t take yourself so seriously.  Laugh.  Take a break and get a Starbucks or whatever it is that gives you a little pleasure, and then get back to it.  If other marketers can find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and if we mimic what they’re doing, our results should be the same, right?  RIGHT???

Until the next time…
